My First Sisters Market Experience: Connecting, Inspiring & Islamic Prints…

Alhamdulillah, I recently had the blessing of hosting my very first stall at the Sisters Market. It was organised by Maktabat An-Nisaa, who are known for creating such meaningful events for sisters full of community, reflection, and remembrance of Allah. May Allah put barakah in their work- you can check out more of their gatherings on their Instagram here.

I initially went to the market with the intention of showcasing my Islamic wall art prints (which are available on Etsy here). But what I left with was far more valuable: connection.

Community is such a core part of our deen. We need each other, we thrive when we’re together, and we inspire one another in ways we can’t always do alone.

One sister in particular, really touched my heart. She stopped at my stall, complimented my Islamic poster prints, and said,

“Our girls are so talented”

The way she spoke carried so much belief in us- in the potential and creativity within the Muslim community. She’s someone who regularly attends workshops and is deeply involved in supporting Muslim spaces. Her words reminded me to see the goodness and greatness in both myself and others.

Later, she even returned with a small gift: a Palestinian-themed tasbih. SubhanAllah, it wasn’t just the gift itself, but the intention behind it- spreading hope, noticing the beauty in others, and honouring what matters most. May Allah reward her abundantly.

Another highlight of the market was connecting with other Muslim women entrepreneurs. Seeing their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit was so inspiring. We exchanged tips, shared resources, and built bonds that I pray will grow into long term support and collaborations. It was a reminder that there’s so much untapped brilliance in our community, and that we rise higher when we support each other.

Of course, I couldn’t have done any of this without the support of family and friends. From my dad helping me with flower decorations, to my brother dropping me off, to my friends showing up to cheer me on- each one played a part. Alhamdulillah, their encouragement made the day even more special.

Being a solopreneur can feel lonely at times, but experiences like this remind me:

we’re never truly alone.

People are important. The right people- those who want the best for you, who push you to grow, and who ground you in remembrance of Allah- give momentum to your efforts. And it’s equally important to nurture those relationships, meeting others with positivity, sincerity, and good faith.

My first Sisters Market stall was more than just an event- it was a lesson in community, gratitude, and the power of coming together as Muslim women. I left not just with sales or exposure, but with something far more lasting: hope, connection, and a renewed sense of purpose. Alhamdulillah for it all.
